# ALPHA-Memory > Team memory for AI coding agents (Claude Code first). A proof of concept, not released: nothing is installable yet. > Everything below is the design being built and measured, not a measured result. - What it is: a hosted memory service plus short-lived hooks on each PC. Every agent, on every PC, for every developer of a team, gets the few memories that matter for the current prompt, or nothing when nothing is relevant. - Recall: a vector search, then a hard character budget (5,200 characters, Phase 0's pick over 2,600; Phase 0 measured keyword lanes and a reranker and kept neither). By design the recall hook gives up after 3 seconds and the agent continues without memory; the miss is logged. - Privacy: five redaction layers (exact known values, secret patterns, structural rules, personal data, then all of them again on the stored form of the text) run on the PC and again on the server. The stores under test are in the EU (Belgium); the language-model and embedding vendors receive redacted text only and currently process it outside the EU. - Store: Postgres or MongoDB Atlas, hosted, behind one adapter. One row per record, every string and array capped by the database, every read limited. No local database. - Hosts: Claude Code first (hooks and remote MCP); Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, Cursor, Claude Desktop and any remote MCP client are planned. - Evidence: no benchmark numbers are published yet. Options are compared on 1,096 real prompts from 54 coding sessions against the memory system ALPHA-Memory replaces, by paired differences with session-clustered 95% confidence intervals; the chosen configuration is recorded before a sealed test set is read once, then accepted only after a month of daily work. - Updates: email updates@alpha-memory.com to be notified; reply "stop" to end it. ## Pages - [Home](https://www.alpha-memory.com/): what it is, how recall works, privacy, limits, comparison by kind, status, FAQ - [Imprint](https://www.alpha-memory.com/legal/imprint): who runs this site - [Privacy](https://www.alpha-memory.com/legal/privacy): what this site processes; it sets no cookies and loads nothing from another origin
